Privacy policy
PawQuest helps you remember the cats and dogs you meet. Your collection is private: nobody else can see your friends, photos, notes or places. This policy explains what we store, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, so you can sign in and keep your collection across devices.
- Your collection: the photos you take or choose, the nicknames, notes and relationships you add, and the dates and times of your visits.
- Location (optional): when you allow it, the approximate place where you took a photo, so it can appear on your private map. You can remove a location before saving, or turn location off in your phone's settings. Location is never needed to earn EXP.
- Photo fingerprints: when you take a photo, the app computes a list of numbers that describes it, on your phone. We store it to suggest which of your friends a new photo shows. It is not used to identify people.
- Settings and progress: your EXP, levels, reward-day timezone and app preferences.
- Feedback: messages you choose to send us, with the app version.
How we use it
Only to run PawQuest for you: to sign you in, save and sync your collection, work out EXP, show your map and suggest matches. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your photos to train models.
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and photo storage.
- OpenStreetMap provides map images and turns a photo's coordinates into a place name. These services receive the coordinates or map area being looked up, not your account details.
Photo recognition runs on your phone; photos are not sent to a recognition service.
Sharing
Your collection is only shared when you choose to, for example with the "Share image" button, which never includes places or notes.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete single visits in the app, download a copy of your data from Profile → Privacy and data → Download your data, and delete your account from Profile → Privacy and data → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your collection, photos and progress; most data is gone right away and backups are cleared within 30 days. See Delete your account.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and each collection is protected so that only its owner's account can read it. Photos are stored privately and shown through short-lived links.
Children
PawQuest is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and tell you in the app for significant changes. Questions or requests: support@devcad.tech.
